WHOIS Domain Lookup

Check public domain registration details with free RDAP lookup: registrar, registration and expiry dates, nameservers and DNSSEC.

Owner and contact details appear only when publicly provided by the registry. Many records are redacted or use privacy services. Missing details do not mean the domain has no owner.

How to check a domain

Enter a domain such as example.com (without a URL or path). Check its public registry record and copy the result. The lookup runs on our server, with a 15-minute cache and a limit of 10 requests per minute.

Privacy and limitations

Owner and contact details appear only when publicly provided by the registry. Many records are redacted or use privacy services. Missing details do not mean the domain has no owner.

Some domain extensions do not provide a supported HTTPS RDAP service. A missing record does not guarantee that a domain is available to register.

What the WHOIS and RDAP fields mean

The registrar is the company through which a domain is typically registered and managed. The registration date shows when the current domain record was created, while the expiry date is the registry-published term. Nameservers identify the domain’s DNS infrastructure, but they do not necessarily identify the website hosting provider.

Why results differ between domain extensions

Registries publish different amounts of data. Some extensions provide full RDAP records, while others rely on WHOIS or a more limited public response. Registrant details are also often redacted for privacy. A missing registrar, contact or date should therefore not be treated as proof that a domain is unregistered.

Registry, registrar and hosting are different things

The registry operates the top-level domain, the registrar manages an individual registration, and a hosting provider stores the website or application. These roles can belong to different companies. WHOIS/RDAP is useful for registration data, but it does not verify the identity of a website operator and is not a substitute for legal due diligence.
